The Interim Controller will lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role will collaborate closely with executive leadership to oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, support the budgeting process, and provide strategic insights to guide financial decision-making. In addition, the Controller will play a key role in optimizing systems and processes and acting as the primary contact for auditors and financial partners.

Salary Range: $60–$80/hr depending on experience.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including analysis and variance explanations.
- Lead the development of the annual operating budget in collaboration with the CFO.
- Supervise and support accounting and payroll staff, including training, coaching, and performance management.
- Guide financial decisions and recommend corrective actions to improve performance.
- Coordinate annual audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage cash forecasting, treasury functions, fixed assets, and all asset/liability activity.
- Identify and implement financial process improvements and system enhancements.
- Represent the organization in relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and external partners.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree or CPA/CMA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong leadership in a Controller-level role.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid billing, payroll administration, and 403(b)/retirement plans preferred.
- Skilled in financial system implementation and process improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent leadership, delegation, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently.
