Based on the company's strategic objectives, the Director of Engineering is responsible for resources, planning, organizing, and directing the engineering and project management teams. This position reports to the VP of Engineering and Operations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Communicate company goals and objectives
- Develop and execute product development plans and identify initiatives, programs, and funding to support business strategies
- Responsible for testing and validation processes
- Conduct market research, keeping abreast of competitive product offerings and new innovations
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers and technical service suppliers
- Provide technical assistance to internal and external marketing representatives and customers.
- Establish standards and processes for the engineering team
- Responsible for the design of new products that meet all performance requirements and financial performance
- Oversee the project engineering team as they lead cross-functional teams through all phases of product development and release, ensuring that product designs meet expectations, including regulatory requirements
- Lead with a continuous improvement mindset
- Responsible for the Engineering Change Order process
- Establish and manage annual operating budget, including staffing and resource planning
- Responsible for leading and developing teams through coaching and training to produce a high-performing organization
Required Skills & Experience:
- A B.S. in engineering with an advanced degree is preferred
- Experience in product development and/or project management
- Experience supervising or managing a team (with direct reports)
- Knowledge of engine technology is a plus
- Prior experience building a high-performing technical team is a plus
