We seek a Java Monitoring Software Engineer to oversee system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and enhance monitoring solutions for our software products. This role involves proactive issue resolution, automation, and collaboration with technical teams to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
Worksite Location: Hybrid onsite/remote position, seeking either Eagan, MN or Plano, TX based candidates who can work 3 days onsite & 2 days remote – weekly.
Salary Range: $50-75K base salary

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain monitoring systems to assess software performance, uptime, and functionality.
- Continuously track the operational status of assigned clients' systems.
- Detect and resolve performance issues, downtime, or anomalies using various monitoring tools.
- Respond promptly to alerts, troubleshoot incidents, and implement fixes to minimize disruptions.
- Identify and resolve stalled transactions, ensuring seamless data processing.
- Ensure that assigned customer accounts are up to date and meet processing deadlines before the start of the U.S. workday.
- Work closely with support and implementation teams to prevent recurring system failures.
- Document incident findings, resolutions, and recommendations for long-term improvements.
- Regularly analyze system logs and metrics to improve software performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application resource usage.
- Implement automation for monitoring and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure full coverage of monitoring solutions across infrastructure, applications, and services.
- Understand and adhere to company workflow processes and technical infrastructure.
- Develop scripts and automated solutions to expand monitoring capabilities.
- Improve alerting mechanisms to ensure relevant and actionable notifications.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to align monitoring strategies with system architecture.
- Communicate system health, issues and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on monitoring configurations, processes, and incident resolutions.
- Generate reports and analytics on system health trends to inform decision-making.
- Assist in developing standard procedures for monitoring and incident management.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in system monitoring, performance analysis, or software troubleshooting.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex software and system issues.
- Proficiency in Java and SQL for debugging and optimization.
- Experience working with Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Solid understanding of software development principles, algorithms, and data structures.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Understanding of relational databases and data management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks is a plus.
