Own the numbers and drive profitability as a Senior Cost Accountant, analyzing manufacturing costs, identifying discrepancies, and delivering sharp, strategic insights. Your expertise will streamline operations, optimize reporting, and keep the business on track for success.

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on the costs associated with a company's manufacturing processes, products, and operations. The successful caniddate will perform assessments and explain inconsistencies related to work in progress and transactions within the ERP system. Subsequently, they will compile the findings into a report to succinctly clarify and explain the data and share them among teams.

Worksite Location: This in-office position is in Chanhassen, MN.

Salary: $90k - $110k base salary plus annual bonus

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend and perform analysis of transactions within the ERP system to determine the impact on the company's financial performance.
  • Oversee the creation of Item Masters, Bills of Materials (B.O.M.), and Production Routings.
  • Assess Work in Progress to ensure precise allocation of labor and materials and proactive analysis of variance categories such as material usage, purchase price, and freight.
  • Execute month-end system closing transactions and reconciliation of General Ledger accounts.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and assist with monthly depreciation entries. 
  • Assist in overseeing inventory management, including monitoring levels, conducting standard cost changes, reconciling discrepancies, reviewing weekly cycle counts, and leading the annual physical inventory process.
  • Prepare and present financial, cost analysis, and other management reports to support decision-making.
  • Help maintain data integrity within the ERP system, ensuring consistency and supporting all departments when changes are requested for new or updated information.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to gather relevant data, analyze cost drivers, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • As an indirect leader, provide support and guidance to the finance team by offering assistance and addressing their inquiries.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment with a progressive increase in responsibility. 
  • Experience in serving as the subject matter expert in ERP systems for cost accounting functions and transaction flows across departments.
  • Administration and usage of Microsoft Power BI, Power Query, or other analytics tools preferred.
  • Experience reading and writing M or SQL code preferred.
