This exciting Quality Director (or Manager, depending on experience) position will lead the Quality Assurance Department in accordance with organizational policies, initiatives, and goals throughout multiple manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will ensure the effectiveness of the quality management systems per ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards and lead, identify, analyze, and implement continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing and quality systems to meet and exceed all customer requirements. This position will report to the VP of Operations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage 6-person quality team. This includes providing day-to-day communication and guidance, goal setting, performance feedback, on-going training, coaching and documentation of relevant events and occurrences
- Simplify, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in compliance and certified to AS9100/ISO 9001
- Establish and maintain quality certifications such as NADCAP as required by customers
- Establish quality metrics and ensure employees' understanding of key quality metrics and continual improvement targets
- Develop and implement key processes for preventive and corrective action and improving the company's ability to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Manage the development of procedures and practices for sampling and inspection plans, root cause analysis, equipment calibration, etc.
- Direct and oversee communication with customers and/or customer service regarding customer returns
- Lead and manage the continuous improvement process, product, and service quality levels, including working closely with cross-functional teams to determine root causes and proposed solutions
- Work with other departments to ensure delivery to customer expectations, including product quality, production output, cost reduction, documentation requirements, and quality system compliance
Required Skills & Experience:
- BS in engineering or a related area
- Minimum 5 years of experience within Quality in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in quality management systems that are subject to third-party audits.
- Familiarity with common statistical methodologies and techniques such as SPC, Control Plans, 5 Why's, DMAIC, PPAP, FMEA
- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma concepts and methods. Strong communication skills and demonstrated success in a supervisory/managerial capacity
- 20% travel to other manufacturing sites; primary location/offices are in Eden Prairie, MN
