The Controller will operate in a fast-paced environment to lead the accounting function and play a critical role in the company's financial leadership, with oversight of AR, AP, and Payroll. The Controller will be self-motivated, manage deadlines, problem-solve, and create processes as needed.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee accounting department operations, including accounts payables and receivables, sales and use tax, billings & collections, and payroll
- Complete month-end and year-end close of financial statements, accounts receivable, and general ledger analysis
- Reconcile restaurant inventory and provide feedback/recommendations to operations and supply chain
- Assess and analyze the company's accounting processes, identify issues, and delegate them to the appropriate staff to address
- Identify financial issues and challenges proactively, assessing their perceived severity to prioritize appropriately, and present and/or implement solutions
- Accountable for all financials and statements, month-end reconciliations and schedules, as well as comprehensive documentation and upkeep of all related policies and procedures
- Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
- Evaluate accounting and internal control systems, identifying any issues and/or discrepancies and implementing corrective remedies
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements
- Provide support in the creation of the annual budget, forecasts, and monthly results reporting
- Provide ad hoc analysis to leadership
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field
- CPA preferred, not required
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Background or understanding of inventory beneficial
- Self-starter with efficient time management, ability to prioritize, and organizational skills
- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and month-end closings
- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
